Her Vision for Aurora

Priorities for Ward 8

Ghousia’s priorities are grounded in the issues residents encounter in their neighborhoods, at home, and in their daily lives.

  • Responsible development

Growth should fit the character and needs of the surrounding community. Residents deserve clear information, meaningful opportunities to participate, and careful consideration of traffic, infrastructure, public services, and long-term neighborhood impact.

  • Taxpayer value

Every city dollar should be treated with care. Ghousia will focus on responsible city spending, transparent decisions, strong oversight of contracts and incentives, and clear explanations of how major investments benefit residents.

  • A strong environment for local businesses

Her experience as a former local business owner gives her a practical understanding of the pressures facing entrepreneurs and employers. She will support a city process that is responsive, understandable, and focused on helping responsible businesses succeed.

  • Families and seniors

Ward 8 should remain a place where families can build a future and seniors can remain connected and supported. Ghousia will pay close attention to neighborhood safety, accessibility, youth and family programs, communication with older residents, and reliable access to city services.

What Residents Can Expect

  • Quarterly Ward 8 community meetings. Residents will have recurring opportunities to hear updates, ask questions, and raise neighborhood concerns in an open setting.
  • A public issue tracker. Recurring community concerns will be tracked in a privacy-conscious format so residents can see what has been raised, what action is underway, and what remains unresolved.
  • Transparent spending updates. Residents will receive understandable information about significant city spending decisions, supported expenditures, and the reasoning behind major votes affecting Ward 8.

The First 100 Days

During her first 100 days, Ghousia will establish the schedule for quarterly Ward 8 meetings, begin implementing the public issue tracker, and create a consistent format for sharing spending and development updates. She will also meet with residents, neighborhood associations, local businesses, families, and seniors to identify the concerns requiring the earliest attention.

Her Commitment

Ghousia understands families, knows what it takes to operate a business, can navigate complex decisions, and has already demonstrated a sustained commitment to public service. She is running to bring City Hall closer to the people of Ward 8—with leadership that listens, communicates, and follows through.
